Citizenship

The citizenship of all residents listed in the national register.

Citizenship grants citizens basic rights and duties, including livelihood and work, the right to vote and eligibility for election, the right to receive social welfare services, plus contractual rights associated with international agreements. As members of the Danish Commonwealth, Danish, Faroese and Greenlandic nationals share the same citizenship.

Keep in mind that citizenship and country of birth are not synonymous. For example, most people born in the Faroe Islands are registered as Danish citizens.
