Fish catches

Wet fish catches is the landed quantity of fish that is processed on board more or less – example from chilled fish to frozen fillets.
The source of the catch is fishing according to the catch certificate from “Vørn” the fishery inspection of the Faroe Islands. The fishery inspection “Vørn” has the following comments on catches according to the catch certificate:
When fishing vessels land, the catch certificate, which analyzes the catch by product, quantity, value and species, shall be submitted to the fishery inspections. The kilo numbers, is the quantity produced, i.e. in some cases it is kilos of frozen fillets that are landed. It should be borne in mind that in recent years more fishing vessels have started to produce the fish on board, which means that the kilo numbers on the catch certificate become lower compared to previous years, because cuttings and other things from the production, no longer is landed. In Statistics Faroe Islands database, it is possible to view catches in quantity and value on a monthly basis, by species, gear, fishing area, processing, and ship size.
