Fish exports amounted to DKK 11.2 billion from September 2021 to August 2022. In the first 8 months of this year, fish exports increased by 35% compared to the same period last year.

Looking at the past year, the September 2021 - August 2022 period, we see that annual fish exports have surpassed DKK 11 billion for the first time.

Total exports in the first 8 months of the year amounted to DKK 8 billion, compared to DKK 5.8 billion in the same period in 2021. This is an increase of 39% in total exports.

The table below outlines the annual export figures by fish species.

The export volume of mackerel increased by 14% year-on-year, while the export value went up by 43%. This difference is due to a 25% price increase in frozen whole mackerel. A similar trend applies to herring.

Salmon exports increased by 34%, amounting to DKK 3.5 billion in the first 8 months. This increase came despite a 7% decline in export volume.

Exports of the bottom fish species cod, saithe and haddock have increased significantly, with export values going up by 51%, 27% and 69%, respectively. The average price for these species increased by 25%-33% in the past year.

The increased export value is mainly the result of higher prices.
