Salmon exports down DKK 300 million

Total exports from May 2024 to April 2025 amounted to DKK 12.2 billion. This is a year-on-year decline of DKK 551 million.

The tables below show export figures for the May 2024-April 2025 period compared with the previous 12-month period.

Fish exports fell DKK 714 million (5.9%). The past year has seen lower exports of some fish species such as salmon, blue whiting, herring and capelin, while exports of most other fish species have increased.

Salmon exports fell DKK 291.7 million. The export value of salmon dropped almost 5%, while the export volume rose by almost 13%.

The export value of mackerel increased by DKK 615.1 million (63.6%). This increase is mostly due to higher prices as the export volume only rose 5.6% year-on-year.

Exports of fodder, fishmeal and fish oil fell DKK 1.1 billion

Salmon prices have been relatively low in recent years. From 2022 to 2024, the annual average price has been around DKK 68 per kilo. The price peaked in May 2022 when the export value of a kilo of fresh whole salmon was DKK 91.80. However, the price saw great volatility over this period, and the difference between the highest and lowest price was more than DKK 30 per kilo. The annual average price has now come down to just below DKK 58 per kilo.
