Big increase in fish feed exports
Total exports for the first half (H1) of 2023 amounted to DKK 6.2 billion, an increase of DKK 321 million over H1 2022.
The highest export value growth was registered in the ‘other fish species’ group. This group, which includes all fish species not mentioned in the table below, mainly consists of fish meal, fish feed and the like. Exports in this group increased by DKK 520 million (48%) year-on-year.
The export value of mackerel increased by DKK 60 million, or 17%.
The export value of salmon dropped by DKK 156 million (6%) and the export volume went down by 4,782 tonnes (15%). After a period with high salmon prices, the past few months have seen a drop in prices.
Exports of demersal fish species cod, saithe and haddock dropped by DKK 367 million in total (23%, 2% and 17%, respectively). Comparing export value and export volume, we see that cod prices are at the same levels as in 2022, while saithe prices have gone up and haddock prices have gone down.
