Fish exports up by DKK 556 million

Fish exports totalled DKK 7.8 billion in the first nine months of this year, an increase of DKK 556 million over the same period last year.

Total exports for the first nine months of 2023 amounted to DKK 9.5 billion. This is an increase of DKK 403 million over the same period in 2022.

The highest export value growth was registered in the ‘mink feed’ and ‘other fish species’ categories. ‘Other fish species’ includes products made from all fish species not mentioned in the table below. Most products in this category are fish meal, fish oil and the like. 

The export value of salmon dropped by DKK 192 million (5%). The salmon export volume went down by 6,669 tonnes (13%). The price of salmon has been good, but the price growth has now come to a halt.

Exports of demersal fish species cod, saithe and haddock dropped by DKK 256 million in total (22%, 8% and 17%, respectively). Prices are falling for all key species in this category.

Exports to Russia in September 2023 amounted to DKK 88.9 million, of which DKK 78.2 million was pelagic fish.
