Fish exports at same level as last year

The DKK 3.9 billion in fish exports in the first half of this year are at the same level as the first half of last year

Total exports in the first half (H1) of 2021 are valued at DKK 4.1 billion, which is a drop of DKK 140 million on H1 2020. Looking at fish exports, which make up a significant share of the total exports, this figure is about the same as H1 2020.

Mackerel exports in volume terms have decreased from 36,000 tonnes in H1 2020 to 10,000 tonnes in H1 2021. The mackerel export value went from DKK 420 million in H1 2020 to DKK 100 million in H1 2021. This downswing is expected to change later this year as the Faroese mackerel quota will be caught in later months this year than last year.

The salmon export value increased to DKK 2 billion in H1 2021. The export volume of salmon reached 38,000 tonnes, which is the highest ever half-year figure.

Exports of (demersal fish) cod, saithe and haddock have gone down. Cod exports saw the biggest drop in export value (12%), while the haddock export value dropped by 1%. However, the export quantity of haddock has increased.
