Fish feed exports continue to rise

Fish exports totalled DKK 6.6 billion in the first seven months of this year, an increase of DKK 380 million over the same period last year.

Total exports for the first seven months of 2023 amounted to DKK 7.2 billion, an increase of DKK 296 million over the same period in 2022.

The highest export value growth was registered in the ‘mink feed’ and ‘other fish species’ categories. ‘Other fish species’ includes all fish species not mentioned in the table below. Most products in this category are fish meal, fish oil and the like. Exports in this group increased by DKK 882 million (76%) in the first seven months of 2023.

The export value of salmon dropped by DKK 255 million (8%), and the export volume went down by 7,283 tonnes (19%). The price of salmon has been good, but the price growth has stagnated in recent months.

Exports of demersal fish species cod, saithe and haddock dropped by DKK 175 million in total (21%, 1% and 15%, respectively). Comparing export value and export volume, we see that cod prices are now at the same levels as in 2022, while saithe prices have gone up and haddock prices have gone down.
