Higher work activity in hospitals

In 2019, the number of annual full-time equivalents (FTE) in the Faroese hospital system was 1,050 – 806 at the National Hospital, 127 at Klaksvik Hospital and 118 at Suðuroy Hospital.

The 2019 annual ETF figure is an increase of 78 over the past 5 years. The National Hospital saw an increase of 56 annual FTEs (7%), Klaksvík Hospital had an increase of 9 (8%) and Suðuroy Hospital had an increase of 14 (13%) over this 5-year period.

The National Hospital accounts for 77% of the annual FTEs, Klaksvík Hospital 12% and Suðuroy Hospital 11%. This is the same distribution as in 2015.

Grouping hospital staff into four general categories, nurses and radiographers make up 38% of the total annual FTE figure, doctors 11%, other health workers 16% and non-health-related staff 36%.

Doctors have had the highest staff category growth overall, calculated in FTE, at 13%. At the National Hospital, the highest staff increase was represented by doctors, nurses and radiographers. At Klaksvík Hospital, the highest increase was in the ‘other health workers’ category. Suðuroy Hospital saw the highest annual FTE growth (13.2%), with a big increase in the ‘nurses and radiographers’ and ‘other health workers’ staff categories.

Sum talvan vísir, er størsti vøksturin í starvsfólkum, roknað í ársverkum, hjá læknum við 13%.  Á Landssjúkrahúsinum er størsti vøkstur hjá læknum og sjúkrarøktarfrøðingum og radiografum. Á Klaksvíkar sjúkrahúsi er størsti vøksturin í bólkinum ”onnur heilsustarvsfólk”. Størsti prosentvøksturin er á Suðuroyar sjúkrahúsi við 13,2%. Stórur vøkstur er bæði í bólkinum 'sjúkrarøktarfrøðingar og radiografar' og 'onnur heilsustarvsfólk'.
