Imports at same level as in 2022

The Faroes imported goods worth DKK 5.9 billion in the first half of this year.

The DKK 5.9 billion in total imports registered in the first half (H1) of 2023 is the same figure as in H1 2022.

Lower oil prices in the past six month are reflected in the total import value. Fuel imports totalled DKK 891.9 million in H1 2023, a decrease of DKK 169.3 million (16%) over H1 2022.

The biggest increase in imports was in ‘raw materials for fish productions’ (predominantly fresh cod and mackerel). In this category, imports increased by DKK 192 million (52%) year-on-year.

Imports also increased significantly in the aqua and agriculture group (mostly feeding stuff for use in aquaculture), with the import value going up by DKK 108.5 million, or 32.7%.

Building materials worth DKK 155,000 were imported from Russia in June 2023.
