Net income for all industries dropped by 14% in 2018, then increased by 15% in 2019

The annual account statistics for businesses have been updated to include 2018 and 2019. The latest figures reveal a 14% decline in net income from 2017 to 2018, followed by a 15% increase in 2019, going from DKK 2.38 billion in 2018 to DKK 2.75 billion in 2019. This is slightly below the DKK 2.77 billion total earnings for all industries in 2017.

Net income in the primary sector increased from 2018 to 2019 after a steady decline since 2016. Looking further back, net incomes in the primary sector have increased significantly in the past ten years – with net income going from DKK 466 million in 2010 to almost DKK 1.2 billion in 2019.

The decline from 2016 to 2018 is particularly apparent in the aquaculture industry, dropping by 33%, from DKK 1.08 billion in 2016 to DKK 726 million, in 2018. This figure increased by 17% to DKK 846 million in 2019.

Secondary sector net incomes have also increased significantly in recent years, going from a total of DKK 225.6 million in 2010 to DKK 725.2 million in 2019. The construction industry accounted for the highest net income growth in the secondary sector over the past 10 years, increasing from DKK 61 million in 2010 to DKK 190 million in 2019. Net income in this industry increased by almost 50% between 2017 and 2018. The following year, however, saw a 7.3% decline.

Net incomes have also increased in the tertiary sector over the past ten years. Net incomes in this sector increased from just above DKK 100 million in 2010 to almost DKK 842 million in 2019. After a slight drop in 2017-2018, the total tertiary sector net incomes reached DKK 842 million in 2019.
