Sales of clothing and footwear up by 11%

Q3 2021 retail sales figures show 'furnishings and household equipment' has decreased by 6%, but 'clothing and footwear' has increased by 11%, from Q3 2020 to Q3 2021.

The figures for retail sales in value and volume terms for Q3 2021 are divided into the following three main commodity groups: ‘groceries and non-alcoholic drinks’, clothing and footwear’ and ‘furnishings and household equipment’.

The turnover for the ‘groceries and non-alcoholic drinks’ commodity group remained unchanged from Q2 2021 to Q3 2021, although the same commodity group saw a 2% year-on-year decrease in turnover in Q3 2021. Average prices in this group remained unchanged from Q2 2021 to Q3 2021.

The ‘clothing and footwear’ commodity group saw an increase of 1%, although the same commodity group saw an 11% year-on-year increase in turnover in Q3 2021. Prices in this group saw an increase of 2% from Q2 2021 to Q3 2021. The retail sales figures from last year show that the 'clothing and footwear' commodity group saw a 10% year-on-year increase in turnover (from Q3 2019 to Q3 2020). The same commodity group saw zero growth on average during the corresponding periods from 2014 to 2019.

The ‘furnishings and household equipment’ commodity group saw a 6% year-on-year decrease in turnover in Q3 2021. Prices in this group saw an increase of 2% from Q3 2020 to Q3 2021
