Fish exports increase 7%

Fish exports totalled DKK 7.8 billion in the first eight months of this year, an increase of DKK 491 million over the same period last year.

Total exports for the first eight months of 2023 amounted to DKK 8.4 billion, an increase of DKK 401 million over the same period in 2022.

The highest export value growth was registered in the ‘mink feed’ and ‘other fish species’ categories. ‘Other fish species’ includes products made from all fish species not mentioned in the table below. Most products in this category are fish meal, fish oil and the like. Exports in this category increased by DKK 1,041 million (75%) in the first eight months of 2023.

The export value of salmon dropped by DKK 262 million (8%). The salmon export volume went down by 7,818 tonnes (17%). The price of salmon has been good, but the price growth has stagnated in recent months.

Exports of demersal fish species cod, saithe and haddock dropped by DKK 189 million in total (19%, 4% and 14%, respectively). Prices are falling for all key species in this category.

Exports to Russia in August 2023 amounted to DKK 76 million, of which DKK 68 million was pelagic fish.
