Import growth is slowing down

Total imports, excluding vessels and aircraft, from June 2022 to May 2023 amounted to DKK 11.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of DKK 1.1 billion.

The table below shows imports from June 2022 to May 2023 compared with the previous 12-month period.

The total import value increased by 14% since June 2022. This growth is significantly lower than the 37% year-on-year high registered in August 2022. Not since December 2021 has the annual import value growth been below 14%.

Aquaculture imports saw the annual highest growth, with the import value going up 37.6%.

Fuel imports increased by DKK 485.4 million (28.2%), mainly due to higher prices. This is almost half the annual growth registered in July 2022.

Imports for household consumption continue to rise despite rising consumer prices. However, this growth has slowed down recently. Imports for household consumption have not seen significant year-on-year import value growth since October 2021.
