Recent increase in residence and work permits has come to a halt

The big increase in residence and work permits for foreign nationals in recent years has come to a standstill.

In the first 14 years of this century, between 400 and 700 foreign nationals held residence and work permits. With the sudden activity spike in the Faroe Islands around 2014, this number shot up significantly over the next few years, peaking at above 2,000 in 2019. The figure for 2020 is the same as in 2019.
