Eva – the most popular name for girls born in 2022
Of children born in 2022, six girls were named Eva and four were named Bára, Bjarta, Elvira, Lilja and Tóra.
Other popular baby girl names were Heidi, Bjørg and Isabella. Six of the girls born last year have not yet been given a name.

Eva has become a regular feature in the list of popular baby girl names in recent years, topping the list in 2018, 2017, 2015, 2014 and 2011. Since 2010, 67 girls have been named Eva.

Bjarta is not commonly featured on the list of most popular baby girl names. However, four girls were named Bjarta in 2022. Bjarta was also registered four times in 2008.
Bára was the most popular name for girls born in 2003 and the second-most popular in 2006 and in 2022, with four occurrences in each of these years. Four baby girls were named Tóra in 2022, the same figure as in 2020. Lilja has featured on the list a few times in recent years. In 2018 and 2020, Lilja was number two on the list.
Elvira is a new entry on the list, with four girls born in 2022 given this name. Elvira is also the highest climber on the list, going up from a 269th place to a joint second. The number of Elviras in the Faroes doubled from 2021 to 2022.
