Salmon exports exceed DKK 4 billion

Last year’s total figures for exports of goods hit an all-time high of DKK 9.5 billion, which is a 19% increase on 2018.

Cod exports grew by almost DKK 300 million in 2019 to exceed DKK 1 billion for the first time since 2002.

Mackerel and herring export sales also rose significantly, by 43 and 54 percent, respectively, compared to 2018.

Salmon remains the country’s main export product, with exports increasing by DKK 700 million in 2019, taking the total salmon exports beyond DKK 4 billion for the first time.

Record figures in sales and volume

Last year saw record-high fish export figures, both in terms of total volume as well as for many fish species.

Total fish exports reached 512,000 tonnes in 2019, which is the second time that fish exports exceed 500,000 tonnes. The first time was in 2017.

Some 69,000 tonnes of salmon were exported last year, 2,000 tonnes more than the previous best year in 2014.

Herring export volumes also reached an all-time high, with 122,000 tonnes exported to the value of DKK 745 million.
